Description
Brown anole Lizard under the yellow wildflower by the lake in Florida.
The brown anole (Anolis sagrei), also known as the Bahaman anole or De la Sagra's Anole.
The brown anole is normally a light brown color, it can change color, in this case a darker brown to black. Its dewlap ranges from yellow to orange-red.
Males can be seen at the highest spots in their area to display their dewlap to attract the attention of any females near by. They'll often bob their head up and down quickly before displaying their dewlap.
They may also eat other lizards, such as skinks and the Carolina anole, lizard eggs.
